Everyone has rights in the United States, whether you are a citizen or not, or in-between. It is important to know your rights.


The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) provides these resources.

Know Your Rights (Red Cards)  

  • This list of rights can be printed up and carried with you.  
  • Available in Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Haitian, Hmong, Korean, Pashto, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.  
  • Additionally, the National Immigration Law Center shares its recommendations on what to do if you’re stopped, arrested or detained by immigration or other law enforcement.

Recommendations for Immigrant Families   

  • Contains ILRC's recommendations and practical tips for how immigrant families can prepare and information on rights in the U.S. regardless of immigration status.  
  • Available in Arabic, Chinese, English, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese. 

Family Preparedness Plan 

  • Available in Chinese, English and Spanish.  


In addition, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) offers information for knowing your rights if immigration visits your home, employer or a public space.
